About This Project

This project started life as a two storied dormered cottage, on a small site, in a location close to St Heliers Bay with good views to the water.  A modest budget which restricted a complete overhaul of the residence allowing only a revival and retrofit of the interior and an opening out of the road elevation to enhance a visual relationship with the Waitemata Harbour.

The primary motive was to open out the lower floor living and kitchen space which meant the original central stair had to be relocated to the edge of the larger proposed open plan space.  The stair at the rear edge was open to use the space beneath and enhance room volume and light.  The owners large extended family can now enjoy the large open plan living space that extends to a ‘ship’ deck by way of an open out framed glass corner to accentuate the flow to an outdoor room
