St Heliers Renovation

About This Project

This arts and crafts home, dating from the early 20th century had been subject to several mid-century additions, resulting in a somewhat disjointed look. The client wished to revitalise the character of the home, which was likened to a very glamourous, elegant and social older lady, whilst providing a comfortable, contemporary living environment for the family.

This was achieved through a major refurbishment of the ground floor with new open plan living spaces arranged around an entertainers kitchen, effectively forming the centre of the house. Large sliding doors allow easy transitions to the pool and outdoor living area.

Working with the clients passion for interior design, we shaped the new spaces following a clean modern aesthetic, combined with traditional materials and detailing, to create a space in which one is pleasantly surprised by the flow of the house and is able feel comfortable, rather than precious in the surroundings.

The end result provides a growing family with an adaptable base, and ensures that home is somewhere they are proud to return to.
